VERMILLION TOWNSHIP — Two 17-year-olds were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash on Friday morning in Vermillion Township, according to the Ashland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Jeep Patriot, a 17-year-old male, was transported by Hayesville Fire & EMS to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 17-year-old female passenger was flown by Metro Life Flight to Akron City Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford F-150, Stephen Darrell Manges, of Akron, was transported by Ashland Fire & EMS to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The incident took place on Friday at 11:30 a.m. on U.S. 30 at the Intersection of State Route 511.
The Ashland Highway Patrol Post was dispatched to a two-vehicle serious injury crash. The investigation revealed a 2014 Jeep Patriot was southbound on State Route 511 approaching the intersection of U.S. 30.
The Jeep failed to stop at the stop sign at U.S. 30 and entered the intersection directly into the path of a 2015 Ford F-150 that was traveling eastbound on U.S. 30.
After the collision both vehicles traveled off the right side of the roadway and came to a final rest.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ashland Fire & EMS, and Hayesville Fire & EMS.
All three individuals involved in the crash were wearing their seat-belts. Alcohol and drugs are not considered to be factors in the crash. The crash is still under investigation at this time.
