Glennis D. Porter, age 90 of Mansfield, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born on January 15, 1935, in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Middleton) Porter, and on July 25, 1959, he married his beloved wife, Arlene (Oakley).

Glennis spent most of his life working for McKinley Roofing, and he also enjoyed working his own small farm.

Glennis was a giant of a man with the biggest loving heart. He was generous, supportive, and full of integrity. His expertise as a gardener was unmatched. Glennis never met a stranger and would do anything he could to help someone out – family or friend.

He is survived by his wife Arlene Porter; his children Rex (Jeanetta) Porter, Jill Porter, Joey (Sonya Ivon) Porter, and Lisa (John) Stevens; his siblings Raymond “Jewel” Porter and Eleanor Wilcox; his sisters-in-law Sarah Jane Carver, Bev Oakley, and Shirley Oakley; his grandchildren Brian, David, Gregory, Daniel, Courtney, Jocelyn, and Colton; and his great-grandchildren Samantha, Sydney, Seth, Sophia, Norah, Leah, Maxwell, Andrew, Braxton, Luke, and Parker.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Elizabeth Porter and numerous brothers and sisters.

Family and friends may gather to honor Glennis’s memory on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Jay Stevens officiating.
