Thelma “Ruth” Shoemaker, 82, of Galion, OH passed from this life to her heavenly home January 25th, 2025. She was born on December 25th, 1942, to Henry and Ollie Tincher in Jackson County, KY. On March 1st, 1973, she married the love of her life, Billy R Shoemaker, who preceded her in death.
Ruth loved the Lord and spent many years serving him in her local church teaching Sunday School, Directing Plays, and leading the youth in competitions. She also sang with her group, The Heavenly Echos, in which she penned many songs for them. She had a love of working in her flower gardens, collecting antiques, and thrift shopping. She loved nature and the outdoors and would find rocks to collect for her gardens. Ruth took great pride in her children and grandchildren. They were the joy in her life and the sunshine of her days.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, 3 sisters, and 1 grandson.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly (Dale) Blout of London, KY; Karyn (Mike) Fleming of Galion, OH; Kristopher (Pam) Shoemaker of New Brunswick, Canada; Pat Shoemaker and Sherrie Mellott of Mansfield; and Rebecca Hockenberry of Ashland. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with funeral services directly following at 1:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services in Mansfield. Pastor Tim Stout will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Park in Lexington.
