Richard Eugene Harris, 70, beloved resident of Crestline, left this world on January 19, 2025, at the University Hospital Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland. Richard was born on November 4, 1954, in Crestline, to the late Robert and Gertrude (Souder) Harris, where he lived his entire life and cultivated a deep love for his hometown and its community.
Richard was known for his keen eye for recycling scrap metal, a testament to his commitment to the environment and sustainability. He had a passion for horticulture, skillfully pruning trees and planting flowers, which brought beauty not only to his own garden but also to the wider Crestline community.
A dedicated born-again Christian, Richard’s faith was a central part of his life, worshiping at the Westside Baptist Church in Ontario. He found joy and purpose in his relationships with the people of Crestline, forming deep friendships and connections that enriched his life. He cherished his daily gatherings with his breakfast buddies at Hunger Payne’s, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air.
Richard is survived by his close friends, Lloyd and Nancy Fulton, Jr., who will remember him for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. His legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnne Schick.
Richard will be laid to rest on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1119 St. Rt. 181, Crestline.
