MANSFIELD — Jacob Taylor was selected “Student of the Month” for his “indomitable spirit” when the Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment hosted its monthly belt promotion recently.
The event saw the participation of 21 students and three black belts, including chief instructor Sensei Reneta Music and Grandmaster Gary Music at the 44 W. 4th St. facility.
During the promotion, students showcased skills by independently performing katas and participating in collective sparring sessions. Each student had the opportunity to present their kata in front of parents and fellow students, demonstrating their abilities by their rank levels.
The following students were awarded new belts:
– Adam Mandour: Brown Belt
– Omari Mandour: Brown Belt
– Luke Medley: Blue Belt

Music shared the theme for the year, emphasizing the importance of stepping outside one’s comfort zone with the message, “Learn to love what you hate, that’s where growth is at.” She encouraged students to embrace mistakes as valuable learning experiences integral to personal growth.
