LEXINGTON — A big fourth-quarter push propelled Lexington to a 65-45 Ohio Cardinal Conference victory over Madison on Friday night.

The Minutemen pulled away from a precarious, four-point edge entering the final period with a 25-9 burst over the final eight minutes to put away the visitors.

Gavin Husty netted five treys and registered a game-high 19 points to pace the Minutemen. Dantrell Hughes chipped in 15 points, while Joe Caudill notched 14 points and seven rebounds.

Madison’s Justin McRaney dropped in a dozen points for the Rams and teammate Colton Adkins had 11 points.

Lex led 15-9 at the first-quarter stop, and 31-22 at the half. But the Rams controlled the third quarter to pull within 40-36 heading to the final period.

The Minutemen made 50 percent of their field goals (24-of-48), compared to 47 percent for the Rams (21-44). Lex dominated the rebounding battle (32-23) and racked up 19 assists to nine for Madison.

Coach Scott Hamilton’s team improved to 7-1 overall, 3-1 in the OCC. Lexington returns to action on Saturday night at Shelby.

The Rams are 3-6, 1-2 and host Ontario on Saturday night.
