COLUMBUS — The YMCA of North Central Ohio Kids Club program at the Shelby, Lexington, and Mansfield locations joined forces to make a meaningful impact on their community.

Together, they successfully raised funds to purchase materials for creating 25 handmade blankets, which have been donated to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The project, led by our YMCA Kids Club Program Director, Nicolle Cherry, began in early September with a goal to inspire children in the program to engage in a community project. By participating, the kids not only learned the importance of giving back but also discovered that even small efforts can make a big difference in the lives of others.

The YMCA Kids Club program is for children ages 5-12 to go before and after school. Available in the Mansfield, Lexington, and Shelby school districts, it provides a structured environment where kids can learn, grow, and thrive. This project reflects the program’s mission to empower young people with opportunities to make a positive difference in their communities.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who contributed funds or materials to this cause. Your generosity, combined with the dedication of our children and staff, made this project a success. These cozy blankets will bring warmth and comfort to young patients in need.

This initiative is a shining example of how community collaboration can spark joy and teach valuable life lessons. At the YMCA, we believe in empowering youth to make a positive difference, and this project is a testament to that mission.
