Alden James Thibeau, 76, of Mansfield, passed from this life on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Ohio Health, Mansfield, Ohio, with his wife and daughter at his side.
Alden was born on June 26, 1948, in Levant, Maine to Alden James Thibeau and Myrtle (Bonney) Thibeau. On February 15, 2002, he married Glenda (Smith) Barker and she survives.
Also surviving are son, Barrett (Sarah) Thibeau of Schaghiticoke, New York; daughter, Jeannine (Ray) Reece of Corinth, Maine; stepsons, Steven Carver of Millersburg, Ohio, Shannon Carver and Shawn Carver both of Mansfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Hayley Cook-Thibeau and Mica McBurney both of Raliegh, North Carolina, Janell (Nick) Doody of Corinth, Maine, Acadia (Avery) Carr of Levant, Maine, and Lauren Reece of Corinth, Maine; brothers-in-law, Harold (Jan) Smith and Jerry (Carol Sauer) Smith both of Butler, Ohio; special friends, Linda West and Mike Murphy of Maine; beloved cousin, Shirley Drake; many nieces and nephews; and not to forget his fur babies, Buttons and Ziva.
Alden was predeceased by his parents; 17 older siblings, four of whom he grew up with, Blanche (Victor), Helen (Sonny), Bonnie, and Margaret; stepfather, Bruce McLain; nephew, Phil Williams; in-laws, Lou E. and Mary Smith; and best friends, Bob King, Ernie Ellis, and Lloyd Day.
In 1966, Alden graduated from David Jordan High School, Long Beach, California, and in 1969, he graduated from Faith School of Theology, Brooklin, Maine. Alden worked at commercial delivery work for many years, including Pepsi Co, Dead River Propane and Kelly Propane. He loved delivering in the beautiful Bar Harbor/Acadia areas of Maine. Alden proudly had driven nearly 60 years without a traffic ticket.
Alden loved and served the Lord throughout his life. He had served as Pastor to the Senior Citizens at the Charleston Pentecostal Church, Charleston, Maine, where he was a member for 25 years. From 2005 to 2016 he served as Chaplain to the residents of Crystal Care Centers of Mansfield and Ashland.
Alden loved the outdoors! He enjoyed many years of downriver canoe racing in Maine, especially the Annual Kenduskeag Stream Race, where he participated over 20 times! He and Glenda had paddled a portion of each of the 5 Great Lakes. He loved hands on sports, softball, golfing, traditional archery, deer hunting and shooting on the pistol team in Maine.
