Arlie Cooper, age 78, passed away Wednesday morning, December 11, 2024 at Twilight Gardens Nursing Home in Norwalk where he has resided for several years.
Arlie was born February 7, 1946 in Olive Hill, KY to the late John Willis and Beulah M. (Qualls) Cooper. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Arlie served our country from 1965-1967 and had been stationed in Germany. For many years he was employed with U-Brand Corporation in Ashland. A simple man, Arlie’s greatest hobby and pastime was fishing. Fishing brought him so much joy.
Arlie is survived by his son: Arlie Cooper, Jr. of Cleveland; grandson: Zachary Cooper; brothers and sisters: Gene (Charlotte) Littleton, Carolyn (Max) Frazier, John (Debbie) Cooper, Mary Webb, Madonna (Bill) Cook, and Stanley Cooper; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Arlie was preceded in death by his wife: Debra Lynn Cooper; and brother: Roger Qualls.
Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 1-2 pm at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will immediately follow at 2 pm. Chaplain Bill Leding, Chaplain of the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail, will officiate the services. The burial detail will perform military honors immediately following the services at the funeral home. Burial will be on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 10:30 am at Mansfield Cemetery.
