MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) #3190 is pleased to announce Alomar Davenport has been elected as the new president of the organization.
Davenport, who will serve a two-year term, was selected during the biannual election of officers held in November.
Joining Davenport on the executive committee are Dennis Baker as vice president, and Yolanda Allen as secretary. Additionally, Winston Greene, Betty Palmer-Harris, and Anne Rhodes were elected to serve as at-large members.
In celebration of the new leadership, the NAACP #3190 will host a community meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the NECIC Community Outreach Center, located at 486 Springmill Street.
The event aims to introduce Davenport and the new executive team to the community and outline the vision for the organization’s future.
“We’re excited to present our vision for the NAACP and engage the community in our ongoing mission to promote social justice, eliminate prejudice, and secure equal rights for all,” Davenport said.

“This is a time for action and for building momentum in our fight for equality.”
Leonard Dillon, the outgoing president of NAACP #3190, expressed his confidence in Davenport’s leadership.
“Alomar will do an excellent job leading the organization, and I look forward to assisting him in any way I can. I’m excited to serve under his leadership as a committee chair.”
The Mansfield NAACP invites all community members, especially those passionate about social justice and civil rights, to attend the meeting and learn more about the goals and initiatives under Davenport’s presidency.
