Maria A. (Fiscarelli) Mooney, age 99, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024, at her home. She was born March 23, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Nicola and Filomena (Falcone) Fiscarelli.
She moved to Morrow County in March 1936 and became a resident of Richland County in October 1947. Maria previously worked at Fusco Dry Cleaners, Beer’s Market, W.T. Grant and Mansfield City Schools.
On August 16, 1942, she married Carl E. Mooney and they shared 48 wonderful years together until his passing on January 27, 1990. Maria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She prided herself in keeping a very clean house and was an excellent seamstress. She was a member of Ontario United Methodist Church. Maria will be missed by many.
She is survived by three children, Patricia Ford, Jerry (Charlene) Mooney and Larry (Charly) Mooney; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Antonio Fiscarelli of Tarpon Springs, FL.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Dominic Fiscarelli; sister, Carmella Thomson; an infant sister, Carmella Fiscarelli; grandson, Ryan Mooney; granddaughter, Shelly Dawn Huff; great-grandson, Caleb Johnson; and great-granddaughter, Katherine Rose Thelin.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service officiated by Pastor George Lee will follow at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park beside her husband. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pat Kracker Breast Cancer Fund.
