SUGAR CREEK TOWNSHIP — An Orrville man was killed after a Tuesday afternoon crash at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Kohler Road (Township Road 129), according to the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Adam Sartin, 41, of Orrville, was the right front passenger in the Toyota pickup truck and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, the Patrol stated. Robert Burr, 45, of Massillon, was extricated by mechanical means and taken by Life-Flight to Akron General Hospital with incapacitating injuries.

The driver of the commercial semi did not sustain any injuries as a result of this crash.

The Patrol reported that on Tuesday at approximately 2:38 p.m. the Wooster Dispatch Center for the Ohio State Highway Patrol was advised of a two-vehicle injury crash involving a pick-up truck and a commercial semi-truck on U.S. 30 at the intersection with Kohler Road (TR-129).

A 2024 International semi-truck, operated by 34-year-old Issai Capetillo of Pleasantville, New Jersey, was pulling a 2022 Hyundai van-trailer while traveling east on U.S. 30. Capetillo had stopped to make a left turn onto Kohler Road when he was struck in the rear by a Toyota pickup. 

The 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup, operated by Burr was traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 and struck the rear of the commercial semi and trailer.

US-30 was closed for approximately two hours while the crash scene was being investigated.

Safety belts were not worn by the passenger or driver of the Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck. The Ohio State Patrol was assisted on-scene by Dalton Police Department, Kidron Fire Department, Wayne County Coroner’s Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and Rigz Towing.
