MADISON TOWNSHIP — Mr. Hero will again have signature Romanburgers and more to serve Richland County starting Wednesday morning.
The 937 Ashland Road restaurant is opening to the public at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Employees and Mr. Hero leadership celebrated the occasion with a ribbon-cutting Tuesday.
Township trustees Tom Craft and Dan Fletcher attended the ribbon cutting Tuesday celebrating the grand opening.
“I’m a construction contractor and I was impressed with all aspects of the construction,” Fletcher said. “Thanks for your investment in the township.”
Previously located a tenth of a mile northeast of its new location, the 1,400-square-feet carryout restaurant now hosts two drive-thru lanes and a weather-permitting patio.
Mr. Hero was founded in Cleveland in 1965.
Mr. Hero chief operations officer Greg Marchion said corporate leadership looked around Richland County after its previous plaza was demolished to make room for additional storage units.
“We wanted to get a location that was close to where we were and we succeeded in that,” he said.
“Everybody out here had something to do with the search and construction of the project and we’re very pleased with how it turned out.”
The 937 Ashland Road restaurant is the only corporate-owned restaurant with a double drive-thru in Mr. Hero history. Marchion said other facilities with drive-thrus are franchise-owned.
FMC Architects founder Frank Castrovillari designed the building, which was constructed by Lakeland Construction Group. The location has about 20 employees.
“It broke our hearts to lay everyone off earlier this year because of the demolition, but we brought a lot of people back and we’re thrilled for that,” Marchion said.
“We were in a strip plaza before, and it’s great to have our own space now. Our drive-thru will allow us to serve many more customers than we could previously.”
The restaurant is carryout-only, but also has patio seating available. Delivery will also be available through DoorDash and other platforms.
Marketing manager Tammy Owens recommended the restaurant’s famous Romanburger, as well as the BLTE Waffledoodle, Hot Buttered Cheesesteak and multiple sides.
Customers can order food at the counter, through the drive-thru, online or via phone at 440-625-3080. The Mr. Hero’s Madison location is also on Facebook.
It is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m. to midnight Friday-Saturday. The Mr. Hero lobby closes at 9 p.m. each day for walk-in customers but the drive-thru remains open until closing time.
