GALION — It was a brief, but tough experience in the 2024 high school football playoffs for the Galion Tigers.

Coach Matt Dick’s squad battled valiantly, but couldn’t overcome a series of penalties and turnovers in dropping 13-7 decision to Ottawa-Glandorf in Friday night’s Division IV, Region 14 playoff opener at Heise Park.

O-G quarterback Peyton Kuhlman opened the scoring with a 7-yard TD jaunt on the first play of the second quarter to put the Titans on top, and it stayed that way for a 7-0 halftime edge.

Kuhlman added a 13-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter to goose the margin to 13-0.

The Tigers responded when Ayden Schmidt blasted in on a two-yard touchdown plunge to slice the gap to 13-7 midway through the final period. But that was the end of the scoring for both teams.

Galion concludes the campaign with a 7-5 record, after finishing 5-2 and in third place in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference.

Ottawa-Glandorf will take a 6-5 mark into next week’s second-round postseason clash at second-seeded Shelby (11-0). The Whippets ripped Elida 49-21 in their opener.
