Madeline Andersonwent home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2024 after a difficult illness. She was 71 years old.
Madeline was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 3, 1952 to Zigmund and Helen (Koneya) Wjciechowski, the second oldest of her siblings. Though Madeline’s youth was fraught with adversity, she battled with the tribulations that restricted her and emerged into the world untethered, tender, and brave. Three decades ago, a loving neighbor extended Christlike friendship and support to Madeline, showing her the love she had been deprived for years, which helped her receive Jesus as her Lord and Savior. After committing her life to the faith that uplifted her, she met the love of her life, Wendell Anderson, at bible study. The couple fell deeply in love and joined one another in divine union in 1997.
A true force of nature, Madeline savored every moment and did everything with intensity, purpose, and love. A perfectionist driven by passion, she earned her BSN and became a registered nurse, even becoming a member of the highly esteemed Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society. She earned her MSN shortly after and became registered as an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (ACHPN), a highly respected national certification.
Madeline and Wendell were faithful members of Crossroads Church, and when the church connected with a community of faith in Nepal, she worked diligently to learn Nepalese to facilitate communication with the believers in Nepal.
Madeline’s fervor and infatuation with life gave her an unfettered case of wanderlust, which took her across the globe. She visited her brothers and sisters in Christ in Nepal, did mission work in Uganda, trekked across Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, and Europe, and of course around the United States. Weeks before she departed this world, she was reveling in the beauty of Lake Superior along the Pictured Rocks shore. After receiving her troubling diagnosis, Madeline’s appetite for wonder and adventure continued with travels, enjoying time with family and friends. From new destinations to new cuisines, she did not take a moment for granted.
Her love for beautiful things led Madeline to knitting and crocheting, gardening, and playing piano. The pieces she designed herself and hand-crafted were always given to loved ones as tokens of her sincere affection and desire to give everything she had to those she held close in her heart.
Madeline is survived by her husband, Wendell; children Paul Spence (Kelly Ereaux), Miriam Gross, Tara (Ethan) Lee, and Lisa Anderson; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and siblings LInda Rundel, Wayne (Donna) Wojciechowski, Barry (Sandra) Wojciechowski, and Julie Bannister.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Zigmund and Helen Wojciechowski.
Madeline’s family asks those who loved her to conjure her generosity and consider making a donation to Crossroads’ partnership in Nepal in her memory, in lieu of flowers.
