MANSFIELD — Joe Caudill’s right arm was the difference in a defensive struggle, and it was more than enough to propel Lexington to an Ohio Cardinal Conference victory on Friday night.

The Lexington quarterback completed 11-of-20 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns as the Minutemen knocked off Mansfield Senior 19-6 at Arlin Field on a rainy, windy night.

Coach Andrew Saris saw his team improve to 3-3 overall, 2-0 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference thanks to a fine defensive performance.

The Minutemen allowed only five first downs and 106 yards of total offense to control the action.

Meanwhile, Caudill spearheaded the offense.

Lexington took the lead just before the end of the first quarter when Camden Boozer scored on an 11-yard run with 36 seconds showing.

In the second period, Caudill connected with Seven Allen on a 33-yard touchdown pass at the 7:51 mark.

Caudill’s second TD pass, a 7-yarder to Cohen Boozer, put the game out of reach with a 19-0 halftime bulge.

Allen caught four passes for 83 yards. Brayden Fogle added four catches for 65 yards.

Senior High just couldn’t must any offense. The Tygers’ lone score came on a 20-yard fumble return by Maurice Bradley II on the final play of the game.

Mansfield Senior falls to 1-5 overall, 1-2 in the conference. The Tygers travel to undefeated Ashland on Friday.

The Minutemen host West Holmes next week.
