Jerry H. Bailey, age 73, resident of Shelby passed away Monday, September 23, 2024, at the Ohio Health Shelby Hospital following a brief illness.

Born March 13, 1951, in Hippo, Kentucky to Clarence and Jeanette (Hicks) Bailey, he had been a Shelby resident for over 30 years. Jerry was employed for 7 years as a switcher driver for Dunlap trucking, before owning and operating Jerry’s Flea Market for the past 28 years. An avid outdoorsman, Jerry loved to hunt. Whether it was bow hunting for deer, mushrooms, or walking miles in search of arrowheads, he was at his happiest when he was outside. Jerry loved a good deal and enjoyed attending auctions to find that perfect bargain. In his later years, he liked to play solitaire and work jigsaw puzzles.

Jerry is survived by his ” Boss Lady” of over thirty years, Sandra (Rupanovic) Snyder and her two children, whom he considered his own, Susan (Tony) Slone of Shelby, Mike (Brenda) Snyder of Shelby; four grandchildren Garth (Kayla) Snyder of Shelby, Dr. Bailey (Dr. Cole) White of Upper Arlington, Sierra (Bryce) Hamrick of Shelby, Macy (Bryce) Fetzer of North Carolina; six great-grandchildren Carter Fetzer, Anastasia Snyder, Cora Fetzer, Cali Fetzer, Olivette Hamrick, Bodhi White; his children, Jamie Tucker of Portsmouth, Jenniffer Baily of Piqua, Jerry D Bailey of Orient; a granddaughter and grandson; 5 siblings, Jimmie (Joyce) Bailey of Shiloh, Steve Bailey of Mansfield, John (Diane) Bailey of Mansfield, Linda (Harmon) Gayheart of Willard, Brenda Swanger of Shelby; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Bailey.

Friends may visit the family at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby, Monday, September 30, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM. Mike Snyder will officiate with interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh.
