MANSFIELD — Lamar (Bo) Jackson Jr. has a bright, scarlet-colored future in Columbus.
The Cleveland Villa-Angela St. Joseph’s running back looks awful good in the present, too. On Friday night, Jackson showed a soaking Arlin Field crowd exactly why Ohio State has accepted his verbal commitment as one of the top running backs in the nation.
In just a half of football, Jackson carried the ball only nine times. It was more than enough. Seven of those nine attempts resulted in first downs. Three of them went for touchdowns, from 22, 16 and 46 yards.
When he was done, the powerful Jackson had 197 yards rushing (21.9 yards per carry) and the Vikings had a 60-0 win over the Tygers.
St. Joseph’s led 20-0 after the first quarter and 33-0 at the half. The final two quarters were played with a running clock.
The Vikings opened a 48-0 advantage in the third period, and coasted home with two more TDs in the fourth quarter.
As a team, St. Joseph’s ran for 478 yards with three backs cracking the century mark. T.J. Moore (134) and Dom Bonner (117) joined Jackson in triple digits.
It was a tough night for the Tygers, who managed only two first downs, and were outgained 537 to minus-16 yards in total offense.
Senior High falls to 0-3, and returns to action next week at West Holmes.
The Vikings (3-0) travel to Kenston on Friday night.
