Cecil Harper, 89, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Cecil was born on May 12, 1935, in Bancroft, WV, to Mark and Myrtle (Walker) Harper. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1953. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 10 years, earning the rank of First Class Petty Officer and was a deep sea diver. On July 21, 1963, he married the love of his life, Janet (Howman) Harper, and she preceded him in death on September 11, 2023. He retired from General Motors after 32 years of employment. Cecil devoted his free time at Mansfield Baptist Temple where he was needed and was a member of the choir and Temple Toppers. His hobbies included stamp collecting, woodworking, photography, reading, and crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Char Harper; grandsons, Cory Harper, Chase Forrer and Blake Forrer; great-granddaughter, Serenity Harper; and brother, Carl Harper.
Along with his parents and wife, Janet, Cecil was preceded by his brother, Mark Harper Jr; and three sisters.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Mansfield Baptist Temple, 752 North Stewart Rd, Mansfield, with Eric Humble officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park with full Military Honors performed by the R.C. Joint Veterans Burial Detail
