PLYMOUTH — Katie Veletean hoped Sunday Market on Main would provide the community with more than just fresh produce and artisan goods.
Veletean, who owns Village Roots along with her husband Jason, wanted the monthly farmers and makers market to be a space for local residents to come together.
“I think things like this (market) really help with morale and just feeling good to live in the community that you live in,” she said.
“There’s been a lot of people that have been introduced to new businesses and products… and now they’re shopping them on weeks that we don’t have the market.”
Sunday Market on Main began June 2 and concludes the first Sunday of September.
More than 40 vendors are set to attend the final market — which takes place along the triangle in downtown Plymouth near East Main Street — of the season Sept. 8.
Open from noon to 3 p.m., market vendors will offer local foods, produce, plants and herbs, baked goods and artisan goods, among others. Red Beard BBQ & Catering will be the featured food truck.
Picnic tables will be available for folks to sit and enjoy food or treats. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own chairs.

Sunday Market on Main includes vendors from Richland, Huron counties
In May, Veletean told Richland Source she was unsure how the newly introduced market would perform in its first year.
She knew it was something the local community wanted and needed, so Veletean decided to “give it a whirl.”
Three months and three markets later, the Plymouth business owner said vendors from Plymouth, Ashland, Bucyrus, Galion and Shelby have all participated throughout the summer.

“I think it’s (market) really been a need in our communities,” Veletean said. “We kind of serve the Plymouth and Willard communities more closely than others, but we’re very blessed that we have people who come from all over.”
While she doesn’t feel the market is quite ready to sustain a weekly schedule, Veletean said the monthly gathering is “definitely doable and something people look forward to.”
“We have 20 or 25 staple vendors who have been with us since the beginning,” she said. “But every month, we see different vendors that are asking to come… they want to be a part of it.”
“It’s (market) giving customers that don’t normally see those businesses an opportunity to kind of view different businesses, try different products and collaborate a little bit differently with other small businesses in the area.”
Get ready for fall with final market of the season
Sunday Market on Main strives to offer as many specialty foods and fresh products as possible — along with artisan crafters, who display a variety of handmade items.
The Sept. 8 market will also include hints of the upcoming fall season, including specialty foods flavored towards fall.
Veletean said a pumpkin vendor is scheduled to attend the final market date of the season.
A fall, football-themed photo opportunity will also be available, offered by Blue Dane Photography.
