Mansfield: Heather Dawn Garrett, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Monday, August 12, 2024. She was 46.

She was born on January 29, 1978 to parents Mike and Sharon (Campbell) Garrett in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. She graduated from Riverview High School in Coshocton, Ohio with the class of 1996. In her adult years she worked at various car dealerships as a receptionist.

Being a missionary’s kid, Heather spent time in Costa Rica and Bolivia growing up. Traveling with her family for various speaking engagements also allowed Heather to share her beautiful singing voice with people from all walks of life.

Heather loved life and lived it well, she was always thinking of others, even in her time of illness. In her spare time, Heather loved to cook and bake- cooking being her specialty though. Never once did she follow a recipe as it was written, instead she would “Heatherize” it by adding her own spin to each dish. She enjoyed spending time out in nature, foraging for ingredients to use in dishes and for medicinal purposes. Heather also enjoyed spending time in the garden with her dad as well as their adventures to pick berries, as well as her time canning everything imaginable with her favorite “sous chef”- her mom. She was a vibrant woman who loved working with children, reading a good book, and analyzing every meal to figure out how to make it even more delicious.

She is survived by her loving parents Mike and Sharon Garrett, sister Holly (Jason) Skelly, nephew Jacob (Beth) Skelly, and niece Kierstin Skelly.

Heather is preceded in death by her grandparents Gerald and Lorraine Campbell and Broadus and Yvonne Garrett.

The Garrett family will receive guests on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 1- 3 pm at Storyside Church, 541 State Route 97 W., Bellville, Ohio 44813. A Celebration of Life service will begin immediately following at 3 pm. Pastor Micah Pelkey will speak.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gentiva Hospice of Mt. Vernon.
