SHELBY — First Lutheran Church, 33 Broadway St., will host an ice cream social and auction on Sunday, Aug. 11, to raise funds for the renovation of its historic pipe organ.
The event will begin immediately following the 10 a.m. worship service at approximately 10:45 a.m. — featuring a variety of picnic lunch foods and ice cream.
Additionally, the silent auction will begin at 10:45 a.m., offering a wide range of items donated by congregation members.
The live auction, with auctioneer Tom Dilgard, will start at 11:30 a.m., with pies and desserts donated by congregation members and contributions from prominent local businesses — including O’Reilly’s, Rocket Chevrolet, Discovery Dental, The Vault Wine Bar, Mama’s Pizza, Paul’s Drive-In, Barb Tuemler, and others.

Back to school carnival offers free school supplies
The church will host its first back to school carnival on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
This community event offers an evening of activities, games and complimentary items for children of all ages.
The back to school carnival aims to bring families and friends together to celebrate the upcoming school year. The event is open to all community members and has no admission fee.
In support of the back-to-school season, free school supplies will be distributed to local students. Children can participate in various carnival games and win prizes.
Additionally, there will be bounce houses for added entertainment. There will be complimentary cotton candy, hot dogs, popcorn and other treats.
