Stone sign for Ohio State Highway Patrol

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP – A Shiloh man was killed Saturday afternoon after a motorcycle crash in Franklin Township, according to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Paul Huffman, 45, was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, the Patrol reported.

The incident took place at approximately 4:05 p.m. on State Route 96 at the intersection of Ganges Five Points Road.

According to the Patrol, Huffman was operating a Harley Davidson Street Glide Motorcycle westbound on State Route 96. Dustin Smith, 38, of Mansfield, was operating a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan northbound on Ganges Five Points Road. 

The Patrol stated that Smith failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck within the intersection by Huffman. After being struck, the motorcycle traveled off the side of State Route 96. Huffman was transported from the scene by Franklin Township EMS.

The Mansfield Post was assisted by the Bucyrus Post, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Township Fire & EMS, Weller Township Fire & EMS, Richland County Coroner and Westside Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
