Richard David (Pepper) Mintz died on Wednesday July 3, 2024 after a brief illness. He was raised in Mansfield, Ohio and was a long time resident of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
He graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1957, the University of Michigan BA in 1962 and the Detroit College of Law JD in1967.
Richard (Pepper), an army military veteran, was stationed at Ft. Knox.
Mr. Mintz was past presidents of the Kiwanis Club of Troy, Oakland County Easter Seal Society, and Madison Heights Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Planning Commission for Bloomfield Hills, Michigan for over 30 years. He taught law at Walsh College for over 25 years. He was a member of the University of Michigan President’s Club, the University of Michigan Victor’s Club and was an enthusiastic supporter of Michigan football. He was a long time season ticket holder and attended numerous Michigan bowl games.
He is survived by his wife Judy of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and three children: son Eric ( Wendy Kingston) Mintz of North Hollywood, California; daughter Lisa (Scott) Stern of Franklin, Michigan, and son Ryan Mintz of Portland, Oregon; Five grandchildren; sisters Nancy Elizabeth Mintz of Los Angeles, California; and Iris (Steven) Mintz-Ossakow of North Canton, Ohio and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John A. and Florence B. Mintz.
Services were held in Michigan on July 7, 2024.
