Doreen Kay Kunkle-Wendland, age 77, of Mansfield Ohio passed away on May 16, 2024 at Oak Grove Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.

On October 16, 1946 she was born in Mansfield Ohio the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Markley) Kunkel. On May 16, 1983 she married Wade “Chip” Wendland at the courthouse in Richland County and together they shared 30 years of marriage. Doreen lived in Mansfield all her life and graduated from Madison high school. She was a hard worker and had many jobs over the years. She retired as a cashier from Drug Mart. Doreen liked the simple things in life, spending time with her family, taking walks and reading a good book.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Sue) McWilliams and Brad (April) McWilliams; Brother Don (Diane) Kunkel; two sisters, Debbie (Rick) Forsythe and Diane (Jay) Bond; six grandchildren, Courtney McWilliams, Zach McWilliams, Kyle McWilliams, Brooke Crynick, Korey Crynick, and Olivia McWilliams and great grandchild Addison Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Helen Kunkel and her husband, Wade “Chip” Wendland. The family would like to send a special thank you to Oak Grove Manor and Southern care hospice for their continued care.

Private services for immediate family will be held.
