Randy “Mower Guy” Adkins
Some people come and go in our lives – Some stay in our hearts forever.
Forrest Randall Adkins was born on July 5, 1951 to Earl and Hazel Adkins. He departed from this temporary home on May 8, 2024. Randy learned to trust God through his suffering of cancer, as well as to his eternal home in heaven celebrating a grand reunion with a healed body and mind.
After his retirement from National Materials, Randy realized he had a new passion and gift for being a “fix it guy” – especially when it came to bringing back to life old lawnmowers. His expertise to detail, integrity and humble demeanor spread quickly throughout many communities by a simple word of mouth. His sister helped him to fulfill his dream job with love and encouragement and sharing her home. He could fix just about anything he set his mind to. In his spare time, he loved spending time making memories with his son Travis just driving around and checking out flea markets. He enjoyed spontaneous trips to Hardee’s and Glenn’s Surplus with his brothers. He had a love for fishing and could share a few good stories about the “ones that got away”. He enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music as it brought back memories of his childhood.
He is survived by his pride and joy son, Travis Adkins; siblings, John (Diana) King, Connie Hunter (Stan), and “Jury” (Carolyn Adkins). He loved and was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended by heart family members, friends, and customers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; daughter, Rena Bays; siblings, Joe Connely, Mickey Adkins, Sandy Starke; and aunts and uncles.
The family wishes to “Thank” Oak Grove Manor for the dignity and loving care they shared and for the many prayers expressed from so many. We will never forget your kindness.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
