Cynthia M. (Gushard) Sampsel, 67, of Mansfield, passed away from a brief illness on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born October 13, 1956, in Mansfield, the daughter of John Sr. and Dolline (Au) Gushard. She married Edward Sampsel on September 26, 1987. Cindy was a stay-at-home mother to three daughters whom she loved with all her heart. She was a great mom, wife, sister, and friend. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and giving them a hard way to go. She always said what was on her mind. She was a feisty one and known by many as “nosey nancy”. If there was anything you needed to know, she had the scoop on it. Her favorite pastime was giving her husband a hard way to go.
She is survived by her husband, Edward, of 36 years; four daughters, Sheri Davis, Heather Hurrell (Josh), Susie (Josh), and Amy Sampsel; one “adopted” child, Bri; four grandchildren, Tristen Davis, Tate Davis, Siera Mullins, and Kylee Mullins; two step grandchildren, Austene and Brie Hurrell; and one great-grandchild, Kade Davis; nine siblings, John Gushard Jr, Sandy Mabry (Gary), Karen Fenn (Jim), Debbie Harlan (Vickie), Michael Gushard, Sharon Brown, Mark Gushard (Kathy), Timothy Gushard, and James Gushard (Emma); brother-in-law, Billy Sampsel (Jean); sister-in-law, Sue Au; many nieces and nephews; one special cousin, Carol McFarland “aka” Curly.
She is preceded in death by both parents, John and Dolline Gushard; father and mother-in-law, William “Bud” and Lucille Sampsel; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
At Cindy’s request there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
