Theodore β€œTed” Owen Emmert August 16, 1934 – March 28, 2024

Theodore Owen Emmert of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed peacefully in his home on March 28, 2024, the morning after celebrating his 71st anniversary with his surviving wife, Jacqueline (Kollman) Emmert from Kendallville, Indiana.

Ted was born August 16, 1934 to Theodore William β€œBill” and Doris Emmert in Flint, Michigan before moving to Topeka, Indiana in his teenage years. A man of many talents, Ted worked as a manager for the G.C. Murphy Company which took him to Ohio and then to Marshall, Michigan where he spent many years working in data entry at State Farm before obtaining his electrician’s license. In 1975 Ted settled in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, where he spent the final 15 years before retirement as a master electrician at the Arlington Hotel.

A charter member of Barcelona Road Baptist Church, Ted spent his life earning the respect of all he encountered. Whether it was camping with his family, serving in the Army Reserves, or teaching his children to respect firearms and hunting, Ted did it with detail and integrity. He found his 40 years volunteering at the Hot Springs Village Volunteer Fire Department deeply rewarding. Ted’s smile, sense of humor, and willingness to lend a hand will be dearly missed.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Doris Emmert, his grandparents William and Emma Hostetler all of Topeka, Indiana and his grandson Michael Matern of Mansfield, Ohio.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his four children, Dee (neΓ© Debra) Emmert of Richmond, CA; Reba (Joe) Matern of Mansfield, OH; Kyla Tyler of Jonesboro, AR; and Nathaniel (Joyce) Emmert of Tallahassee, FL. Ted was pleased to call six surviving grandchildren his own including Danielle (Kent) (Marty) Poulson of Moville, IA; Greg (Nita) Matern of Mansfield, OH; Benjamin (Avra Goldman) Emmert-Aronson and Jacob Emmert-Aronson of San Francisco, CA; Zachary (Lauren) Tyler of Van Alstyne, TX; and Rebekah (Clint) Borden of Jonesboro, AR along with 12 great-grandchildren, Miles and Madison Dempster, Cody (Brandi) and Kyle (Brooke) Matern, Olivia (Chayce) Rayburn, Hazel Goldman, Theodore β€œTheo” Emmert-Aronson, Meagan and Robert Tyler, Aubree Burden, and Brantly and Magnolia Borden. Ted was also great-great-grandfather to Lilly, Carter, Kane and Grayson Matern. He will be especially missed by his feline, Fantome.

The family wishes to thank Barcelona Road Baptist Church, Hot Springs Village Fire Department, Lifenet Ambulance and Dierkson Hospice, as well as Caruth Village Funeral Home of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas for arrangements. A memorial for Ted will be held at a later time.
