GEORGETOWN, KY: As we reflect upon the life of our dear wife and mother, Amy Beth Nichols, we can only liken her existence to that of a shooting star: beautiful, bright and while all too fleeting, it leaves an indelible mark on the memories of those who loved her. It is with deep sorrow that we announce her passing on the afternoon of Monday, March 25th, 2024, at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was 63.

Born Amy Beth Davidson to parents Raymond and Donna (Guthrie) Davidson in Wheeling, WV, she graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1979. The following year – on November 1, she married Terry Nichols,”…we married young so I could raise him right” she’d often quip.

Amy worked as a preschool teacher for nearly 20 years, most of that time with the Lexington (OH) Child Development Center. Teaching is love in its purest form – so it was perfect for Amy. She imparted that wisdom and experience in the lives of her own children and grandchildren, teaching them life’s most important lessons and making priceless memories along the way. She doted on her grandkids, attending school events and ballgames, doing art projects with them, even filling her kitchen floor with popcorn for them to play with as an indoor “snow” experience.

She will be remembered for her dry, and somewhat ornery sense of humor (just like her Dad), and for the immense love she had for her family. She had an unassuming competitive side and hated to lose…whether it was answering trivia questions or family game night. She was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and could often be found cheering them on during football season. Like her mother, she was a wonderful cook and cherished preparing holiday meals for her loved ones to enjoy. She loved plants and enjoyed reading and looked forward to yearly family vacations to the beach. She found her greatest joy in spending time with the beautiful family she and Terry created. Anyone could see the love and pride radiating from her sweet smile and twinkling eyes when she was in their presence.

She is survived by her husband Terry – she was his life, and well, frankly, she spoiled him! They have two children Megan Nichols and Bryan (Mary) Nichols; and four grandchildren Caleb, Cooper, Everett, and Palmer.
Her family also includes her father Raymond Davidson, and sisters Debbie (Howard) Purdy and Sherry Dupler all of Mount Vernon, along with several nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.

Her mother Donna Davidson preceded her in death.

The Nichols family will receive guests Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, Mansfield, where her memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. Pastor Chris Radio will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio St., Ste 500, Chicago, IL 60611, or may be made at the funeral home.
