SHELBY — It was déjà vu all over again when the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference girls basketball team was announced.
Shelby’s Eve Schwemley and Clear Fork’s Annika Labaki were two of the four repeat members on the six-player All-MOAC first team. Marion Harding’s Aniya Mitchell and Pleasant’s Avah Steele were the others.
A junior, Schwemley led Shelby to its sixth straight MOAC championship. She averaged 14.1 points per game.
Labaki averaged 10.5 points a game for the Colts. The senior sharpshooter broke Clear Fork’s single-season and career 3-point shooting records this season.
Other first-team picks were Pleasant’s Whitney Waddle and River Valley’s Lexie Hecker.
Clear Fork’s Kylie Belcher and Shelby’s Serena Ramsey both earned spots on the All-MOAC second team. They were joined by Highland’s Bryleigh Young, Pleasant’s Emerson Williams and River Valley’s Megan Clausing and Haylee Snyder.
Honorable-mention picks included Clear Fork’s Mel Blubaugh, Galion’s Cameron Eckert, Highland’s Makaylee Merckling, Marion Harding’s Kacee Whitaker, Ontario’s Ka’Mashya Shaw, Pleasant’s Olivia Pratt, River Valley’s Ava Roseberry and Shelby’s Charlie Niese.
