Mick Frye, 70, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away on February 9, 2024, after a long and arduous battle against cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Kathy, family, and close friends. Mick was born on March 17, 1953, in Yuba City, California, and grew up in Mansfield, Ohio.

He was known for his humor, entertainment, hard work, dedication, and loyalty, with his family holding the highest place in his heart. Mick was a man of deep faith and actively involved in his community. He served as a coach and mentor, renowned for his record-breaking free throws at festivals and his ability to devour ears of corn in one sitting. Mick was also a very average golfer and had a great passion for nature and boating. He particularly cherished music, especially the Solid Gold Saturday Night campfires.

Mick is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 52 years, Kathy (Kromer), and their four sons: Trevor, Lance, Danny (Amanda), and Brett. He was a beloved grandfather to Olivia, Maxine, Audrey, and Hannah, all residing in Cincinnati. Mick is also survived by his sister, Sue (Ron Janak), of San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maxine Frye, of Mansfield, OH.

Mick attended Mansfield St. Peter’s High School, graduating in 1971, and later attended Bluffton College. He had a successful career in warehouse management at Skurnik (previously known as Vintner Select Wine) of Cincinnati. Prior to moving from Mansfield, Mick worked in distribution and sales at Mansfield Distributing, earning him the nickname “Budman”.

Mick worshipped and was a member of the Father’s Team at Guardian Angels and Immaculate Heart of Mary. He found solace and guidance in his faith throughout life. Always trusting in God.

In his free time, Mick enjoyed attending sporting events and spending quality time with his much-loved family, grandchildren, and numerous friends, engaging in activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, and camping. He had a profound appreciation for the outdoors and relished being surrounded by nature.

A Christian Funeral service and visitation to celebrate Mick’s life will be held at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, located at 6539 Beechmont Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45230.

Mick Frye will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His humor, dedication, and love for his family and community will leave a lasting impact on those he touched.
