MANSFIELD — Richland County has been chosen to receive federal emergency food and shelter program funds.

Applications are being accepted at this time to be considered for funding to area agencies in Richland County that provide housing, utilities, food pantry and congregate meals.

A local board made up of community leaders will determine how the funds awarded to Richland County are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area.

Richland County has distributed emergency food and shelter funds previously with The Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Wayfinders Shelter, The Domestic Violence Shelter and Independent Living Center.

These agencies were responsible for providing rent and utility assistance, food assistance as well as emergency shelter.

Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for these funds must contact local board President Laurie Hamrick at lhamrick@toledodiocese.org or call 419-524-0733; ext. 226 for an application.

The deadline to apply is Friday, Feb. 16, 2024.
