Jimmie A. Miller, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Monday January 15, 2024. He was 79.
He was born on October 25, 1944 in Marion, Ohio to parents Peter and Ruth (Diehl) Miller. Jim was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School in 1962, and spent the majority of his life in the Mansfield area.
While in high school he met his sweetheart, Cheryol Lousie Beal, when they were just 16 and 17 years old. And although many probably had their doubts, Jim and Cheryol never did, and the love birds wed on February 29, 1964, when they were just 18 and 19 years old. They went on to share almost 60 wonderful years of marriage that was filled with laughter, memories, and a lot of love.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam before completing his service with the 179th Airlift Wing by retiring in 2002. He also worked at Montgomery Ward for 17 years where he was an assistant manager and focused on maintenance control and analysis.
Jimmie and Cheryol were long time members of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and spent many years together serving the 179 Shadow Flight, where Jim served as President and later as the Membership Chairman. He was also a life member of the AMVets Post #26.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing both locally and at Lake Erie, traveling with his family, wood working, building, and flying his model airplanes, and using his mechanical abilities to tinker away on various projects. But above all else though, he loved his family more than anything in this world. His selflessness and willingness to help others will be remembered and missed by so many of those who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife Cheryol Miller, daughters Melissa Miller of Oakdale, CT and Julie Bermudez of Davie, FL. grandson Peter (Taylor) Bermudez, Jr. of Fort Liberty, NC, one great-grandchild, brother Peter (Diane) Miller of Mansfield, OH, brother-in-law James (Tabby) Beal of Mansfield, OH, sisters-in-law Georgia (Ronald) Bacquet of Lexington, Kentucky, and Nancy (Richard) Hinkel Princeton, NJ, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents.
