MANSFIELD: Born May 12, 1926 in Mansfield, Ohio and the tenth child of Elizabeth (Moser) and Edward Nelson Chapman, Beatrice May Chapman Roberts went to meet her precious Lord and Savior and her husband on Saturday, January 13, 2024. She graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1944 and married Emer Junior Roberts on April 14, 1945. They spent 27 wonderful years of marriage together before his death on March 18, 1972. Their only child is David Bruce Roberts.
Bea never drove a car and walked everywhere … attributing to her longevity of 97¾ years! And, she just recently learned to work a cell phone!! She enjoyed her family and especially her grand and great grandchildren. At family celebrations she always brought the desserts (pies especially) and cookies. She loved baking and cooking ~ not only for herself, but delighted in sharing the fruits of her labor with others. Bea’s grandson inherited the gift of making her Dutch Apple pie and her granddaughter excels in sharing with others.
Surviving is her son David (Debbie) Roberts of Lexington, granddaughter Tiffany (Jason) Miller, great granddaughter Emma Rose Miller of Hayesville, as well as one grandson Seth (Melissa) Roberts and three great grandsons Myles David Roberts, Crosby Bauer Roberts and Pryce Charles Roberts of Lewis Center.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, brother William F. (Stella) Chapman, sisters Marie L. (Lewis) Zerby, Isabel K. (Robert) Kennedy, Thelma L. (George) Marth, Lucille C. (Russell) Kinsey, June R. (Vern) White, Helen J. (John) Stuit, Margaret G. Chapman (died as an infant), Beverly J. (Robert) Anschutz and great granddaughter Hattie Mae Miller.
Bea’s strong and committed Christian faith guided her throughout her life. She was a member of The Church of Mansfield where she enjoyed sharing the joy, hope and love of Christ with her brothers and sisters in the Lord.
On Friday, January 19, 2024 calling hours will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home before Bea’s Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am. conducted by her son Celebrant Dave Roberts. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family strongly prefers memorial contributions be given to The Church in Mansfield, Ohio to help spread The Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world and may be left at the funeral home.
