SHELBY — The senior assembly was bittersweet for many reasons, especially since it was the first year the Chuck Ridenour Whippet Award was granted.
Chuck was a well-known and a well-respected journalist, who passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 23, 2022.
Understanding the depth of his love for being a Whippet and the impact he had on the community, the Ridenour Family made the decision to keep Chuck’s legacy alive by establishing a scholarship in his memory at The Shelby Foundation.
The family chose to award a $500 scholarship to two graduating seniors who embody what it means to be a Whippet and who knew Chuck personally and professionally.
The recipients of the 2023 Chuck Ridenour Whippet Award went to Audi Albert and Macy Rall.
