MANSFIELD — AlasdairĀ Nugent was recently honored as “Student of the Month” for the YMCA of North Central Ohio Karate School.
The award came during the school’s monthly test at the Mansfield branch with 32 students in attendance.
Instructors said Nugent “shows all the attributes of an amazing leader. He has determination to further his learning experience in class and does everything he can to make sure he is putting in effort while having fun in class.”
The following students achieved rank based on knowledge of pattern of movement, posture and stance of their testing kata:
Yellow belt:
Nola Mawhorr, Alasdair Nugent and Lucas Keinath
Orange belt:
Griffin Kennard, Carter Smith
Blue belt:
Jonah Worthington, Jackson Parmer
Red belt:
Tim Elias, Sol Phillips and Blake Schwartz
The school offers beginner classes at the Mansfield Branch on Monday and Wednesday at 4 p.m. for ages 5-6; and Tuesday at 6 p.m. and Friday at 5 p.m. for ages 7 and up.
Classes at the Shelby branch for beginners are offered on Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m.
