Daniel G. Howard, 83, of Ashland passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2023 at Shelby Hospital.
Dan was born February 19, 1940 in Morehead, Kentucky to Clyde and Alma Ruggles Howard. He moved to Ohio in 1946 and has been a resident of Ashland County for over 50 years. He was married to Nancy Sorrentino for 59 years until her passing in 2020. Dan served in the United States Navy from 1958 – 1962 and then worked for the City of Mansfield until retiring. He had a love for horses and showed draft horses for many years and he was an avid trap shooter. Dan loved the time he spent with his daughter and grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter Tracy Mail of Kent, Ohio; grandchildren Alexandra and Ian Mail.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy; and a sister Alline Carrick.
Visitation will take place at Herlihy Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 2pm – 4pm. Military honors will be provided by the Richland County Joint Veteran’s Burial Detail at the end of visitation. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
