MARION — A Marion man was killed Saturday night after a one-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 26 and County Road 174, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Authorities say Ryan M. Cox, 36, of Marion pronounced dead at the scene and a dog inside the vehicle had minor injuries.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:55 p.m. in Marion County.
The Patrol stated that the crash involved a 2014 Honda CR-v, driven by Cox. He was traveling northbound on County Road 174, failed to stop at the intersection, traveled off the north side of County 26, struck an irrigation ditch, and the vehicle overturned onto its side.
Cox was pronounced deceased on scene by the Marion County Coroner. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. A canine was located in the vehicle with minor injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, 1st Consolidated Fire and EMS, Marion County Coroner’s Office, Marion County Dog Warden, and Precision Towing.
This crash remains under investigation.
