MANSFIELD — A 28-year-old Mansfield woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident early Sunday morning on Trimble Road, according to Mansfield police.
The identity of the woman, and that of the other driver, are being withheld “due to the ongoing investigation and notification of family,” police Capt. Chad Brubaker said.
Sgt. Paul Lumadue of the police department’s traffic section said the woman, and a 53-year-old man also involved in the crash, are both Mansfield residents.
The crash occurred Sunday at 1:06 a.m. at 359 N. Trimble Road, according to police.
Police said the woman was driving a 2015 Ford Focus southbound on North Trimble Road, adding that a 1998 Cavalier tourist bus was backing into the driveway adjacent to 359 Trimble Road.
“(The) preliminary investigation indicates the Ford Focus crashed into the left side of the bus as it was attempting to back into the driveway,” police said in an emailed press release Monday morning.
The bus had no passengers, according to police. The woman was alone in her vehicle.
The driver of the Ford Focus was transported by the Mansfield Fire Department to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries, according to police.
The man driving the bus was injured.
“A crash reconstructionist from the Mansfield police traffic section is investigating the crash,” police said.
Police said alcohol and speed are believed to have been contributing factors in the crash.
Anyone with information about the accident are asked to call Lumadue at 419-755-9738.
