MANSFIELD — Richland County Transit (RCT) is offering transportation options to promote voter access in partnership with the Richland County Board of Elections.
Temporary service to the Board of Elections: Weekdays during early voting, October 12 through November 7, passengers can request a stop at the BOE on West Longview when traveling Route 5 (Springmill/Bowman) or Route 9 (W. 4th Street).
Passengers on other routes can transfer to Route 5 or 9 at the RCT Transit Center. Early voting hours are posted on the BOE website: https://www.boe.ohio.gov/richland/
For more information about RCT’s services, call 419-522-4504.
Voter registration and absentee ballot request forms: Voter registration and absentee ballot request forms are available for pickup at the RCT admin office (232 N. Main Street) and the RCT Transit Center (74 S. Diamond Street).
Fare-FREE week: To encourage voting and to recognize our veterans, RCT will offer services FREE to all passengers from Nov. 7-11, in honor of Election Day and Veterans Day. The free service is thanks to a grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) notes that public transportation plays an important role connecting millions of Americans to jobs, vital services, and civic participation, such as voting. Transit providers across the country are encouraged to promote voter registration and participation.
