OLIVESBURG — The second-half surge orchestrated by Owen Barker and his Crestview teammates didn’t go unnoticed.

Barker earned a spot on the All-Firelands Conference first team, while teammates Jarek Ringler and Heath Kash earned spots on the second team.

Crestview opened the season with four straight wins before dropping five in a row to dip below .500 in early January. The Cougars were 6-8 before winning six of their final seven games to finish the regular season at 12-9.

A junior, Barker averaged a team-best 12.3 points and 6.6 rebounds a game. Ringler averaged 11.2 points and 6.0 rebounds a game, while Kash averaged 9.0 points a game.

South Central (15-7, 10-4) landed two players on the All-Firelands first team. Isaac Blair averaged 16.7 points and 4.1 rebounds a game, while Sam Seidel averaged 8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists a night.

Conference champ Western Reserve (20-1, 14-0) had three players on the FC first team. Jude Muenz averaged 12.4 points and 5.1 rebounds a game, while Cam Hankins was good for 10.5 points a night and Matt Jarrett averaged 8.5 points a game.

Monroeville’s Isaac Roeder and Jimmy Clingman were also first team picks. Roeder led the FC in scoring at 20.3 points a game to go with 9.3 rebounds, while Clingman averaged 14.2 points a night.

Joining Ringler and Kash on the second team were Mapleton’s Jed Brannon and Collin Grundy, Plymouth’s Clayton Miller, Norwalk St. Paul’s Kaden Maxwell and Travis Herner and Monroeville’s Aidan Goodwin.

Western Reserve’s Chris Sheldon was selected the Coach of the Year after leading the Roughriders to their fifth consecutive conference crown.
