SHELBY — A 59-year-old Shiloh man died early Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash in Shelby, according to the Mansfield Post of the State Highway Patrol.
The accident at 12:05 a.m. occurred on Ohio 39, just west of Ohio 61, within the city limits, according to a state patrol dispatcher.
The patrol and the Shelby Police Department responded to the crash.
It occurred when a 2014 maroon GMC Sierra pickup truck, driven by Robert Oney traveled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.
After striking the utility pole, the truck overturned and came to rest in the road.
When first responders arrived on scene Oney was found unresponsive and transported to OhioHealth Shelby Hospital. Oney was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The crash remains under further investigation at this time, according to troopers.
Alcohol/drugs were not suspected as a contributing factor in this crash, the patrol said.
