ASHLAND — Dylan Hohler scored 19 points and blocked six shots to lead top-seeded Huron to a 46-39 victory over Lexington in the Division II district championship game on Saturday night at Ashland High School.

The Tigers’ defensive prowess limited the Minutemen all night, but the first quarter proved to be the most significant in the game.

Coach Bobby James saw his team blow out to a 15-8 first-quarter lead, and expand the gap to 21-8 midway through the second quarter. Lex closed the half on a 6-0 run to make it 21-14 at halftime.

Coach Scott Hamilton’s squad opened the second half on a 7-2 burst to get within 23-21, but Huron responded to finish the quarter on top 34-27. Lexington got no closer than five points in the fourth period.

Hudson Moore and Elijah Hudson each scored nine points to top Lex. Jack Depperschmidt added eight points and six rebounds. The Minutemen enjoyed a 34-22 bulge on the boards, but were unable to take advantage of it.

Top-seeded Huron improves to 22-2 and is headed for the Bowling Green regional tournament. On Thursday at 8 p.m., the Tigers will tangle with St. Mary’s Memorial, which beat Napoleon 61-52 on Saturday night.

Third-seeded Lexington finished its season at 15-10 with a sectional championship and district runner-up trophy.
