MANSFIELD — When walking into New Day Acupuncture, a complete sense of calm seems to fill the body.

The sage green walls, the peaceful music playing in the background and Autumn Snavely, licensed acupuncturist and owner of New Day Acupuncture, waiting at the front desk to greet patients with a smiling face, all adds to the serene environment.

Located at 1092 B Lexington Ave., New Day Acupuncture provides the community with unique services such as acupuncture, cupping therapy and massage therapy.

Snavely, a Mansfield native, saw a big need for alternative medicine in Richland County. Living in northern Columbus, working as an acupuncturist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Snavely also runs her business in Mansfield with the help of two other acupuncturists and a massage therapist, providing people in the area with different forms of therapy.

“I have a big focus on providing safe, compassionate care and educating others on different ways they can manage their health and wellness through alternative medicine,” Snavely said.

Perhaps the most prominent service the business offers is acupuncture. Acupuncture helps to relieve almost anything that can affect the nervous system, whether it is anxiety, digestive disorder, depression or pain within the body, Snavely said.

Trypanophobia (fear of needles) may deter someone away from this kind of therapy, but New Day Acupuncture can modify the service to ensure the comfort and relaxation of the patient.

“The needles we use are extremely tiny, you can fit about 20-30 acupuncture needles within a regular doctor syringe,” Snavely said, “Most people don’t feel the needles going in.”

Non-needle techniques are also available for individuals such as lasers that stimulate acupuncture points, and acupuncture beads.

Since 2017, New Day Acupuncture has provided the community with a unique kind of a pain reliever. Snavely plans to continue providing this alternative medicine and possibly adding more people to her team in the future to ensure the proper care for each patient.

“This business means a lot to me, it’s kind of my heart and soul,” Snavely said.
