MANSFIELD – NECIC, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Development and the Ohio Department of Health, is leading a training on Lead Abatement.
The training is to license Contractors and Workers and will be in two separate sessions for one week each session.
You can choose the session beginning Feb. 28 through March 4 or March 28 to April 1 at the NECIC Community Outreach Center, 486 Springmill St. Mansfield, Ohio 44903 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This 40-hour Lead Abatement training course is required by the Ohio Department of Health to apply for a Lead Abatement Contractor license.
This training course uses the EPA model Lead Abatement Contractor curriculum, HUD Guidelines, and includes OSHA and EPA compliance requirements. The class focuses on identification of safe work practices and job specifications for controlling hazards of lead paint, dust, and soil.
Who should attend
Environmental and asbestos abatement contractors, industrial hygienists, environmental consultants, architects, housing professionals, painting contractors, abatement supervisors, demolition contractors, renovation and remodeling contractors, general contractors, project designers, and policy makers.
“Lead is a public health hazard,” NECIC Housing and Community Development Manager, Alan Mitchell stated. “Lax enforcement of lead paint poisoning prevention lets landlords off the hook and leaves our children in danger. There is no safe amount of lead in children’s blood.
“All homes constructed prior to 1978 are likely to have lead hazards. Abating this hazard provides good paying jobs for heroes willing to do the work to protect our community.”
The training will be provided by Lead Experts for a required deposit of $311.40 per Contractor and $239.40 per Worker, which is refundable upon completion of either session. There may be partial scholarships available based upon demonstrated financial need.
This class is an opportunity to become certified in a field that many aren’t equipped to do. If you are interested in this training that will start Feb. 28 to March 4 for the first session, at the NECIC Community Outreach Center, 486 Springmill St. Mansfield, OH 44903 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
