MANSFIELD — It’s going to be windy, rainy and unusually balmy on Wednesday and Thursday — before taking a snowy turn by Friday, according to reports from the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook Tuesday along with a flood watch for Richland and Ashland counties, among other northeast Ohio communities.

“Gusts in excess of 40 mph are expected,” the forecasters warned for Wednesday. Weather models show temperatures stretching into the 50s Wednesday and Thursday.

The warm temperatures and rain will cause significant snow melt, which could lead to flooding of rivers and creeks in the area, NWS said.

Temperatures are expected to plunge into the teens overnight Thursday. The rain will turn into snow by Friday, when the highs are expected to be around 25.

“Measurable snow moves into the area Thursday night and Friday,” the NWS said, but did not offer specific amounts.
