Steven Day, 66, of Mansfield passed away December 24, 2021 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness.
Steve was born May 9, 1955 in Mansfield to Kenneth and Rita Tipul Day. He was a 1973 graduate of St. Peter’s High School and then began his career in food distribution. He delivered food items ranging from pop and bread to chips and other snacks and owned a Pepperidge Farm Distribution Center for 25 years. Steve’s passion was dirt late model racing and he also co-owned Lucas Day Racing. He loved working on cars but even more so loved supporting his boys while they played sports or any other activities they were involved in.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years Collette Howell Day; sons Zach and Adam (Mahala); mother Rita Day; brothers Douglas, Jeffrey, Peter, Daniel Day; sister Dianne (David) Sutter; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Day; and his in-laws Joseph and Mary Howell; and many aunts and uncles.
Friends may call at Herlihy Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Thursday from 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00am Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County.
