ASHLAND — Sheriff deputies arrested two Mansfield men Thursday morning for their alleged involvement in an early-morning burglary of two ATVs from a homeowner in northern Ashland County.
Nicholas Dinninger and Travis Carmel, both of Mansfield, are being held at the Ashland County Jail. Charges had not been filed by late morning, according to court records.
Chief Deputy David Blake said in an emailed press release the sheriff’s office received a call at 6:37 a.m. from a homeowner on Township Road 1101.
“He told the dispatchers that he observed two males on his property in the process of stealing his two 4-wheelers that were sitting outside. When the homeowner approached the suspects, they drove away with the two 4-wheelers,” Blake said.
The two men were located and stopped on the 1000 block of Ohio 511 eight minutes later.
The suspects’ vehicle, which was used to haul the ATVs, have been confiscated as evidence.
“Detectives are interviewing witnesses and processing the crime scene. The case will be submitted to the Ashland County prosecutor for review,” Blake said.
