SHELBY — The Shelby Police are seeking the public’s help in capturing a suspect in connection with a bank robbery on Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, PNC Bank Branch at 29 N. Gamble Street was robbed Tuesday at approximately 9:07 a.m.
The suspect was described as a male between 5 feet, 7 inches and 6 feet tall weighing approximately 150 to 160 pounds. Shelby police say the man passed a note to the teller demanding cash.
No weapon was shown and no threats of harm were made. The teller provided him the contents of her cash drawer. The male then exited the bank and left on a bicycle, authorities stated.
The Shelby Police Department is asking anyone with information on the robbery to contact Detective Adam Turner at 419-347-2242.
This is the second bank robbery to occur in Shelby the last five weeks. On Oct. 22, an individual robbed the First Federal Bank of Ohio and fled towards Dowds Elementary School. The school briefly went on lockdown as a safety precaution; but no one was harmed.
Callers who reported the incident described that suspect as a Hispanic male with an accent wearing a black ski mask, black pants and a white hooded sweatshirt.
Sgt. Cody Baker of the Shelby Police Department told Richland Source last month that the FBI is involved in the investigation of the First Federal Bank robbery.
Representatives from the Shelby Police Department and the PNC were not immediately available for comment.
