NORTH CANTON — Myles Bradley caught two long touchdown passes in the third-quarter and Mansfield Senior rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to dump North Canton Hoover 21-17 in a non-conference road clash on Friday night.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound senior hauled in an 80-yard TD pass from quarterback Brock Hill to pull the Tygers to within 17-14 with 5:20 showing in the third quarter. On the next possession, Bradley struck again, this time collecting a 60-yard scoring toss from Amarr Davis on the latter’s only pass of the night.

That touchdown came with 1:18 showing in the third period, and proved to be the game-winning points as neither team dented the scoreboard again.

Bradley finished the night with four catches for 155 yards, 38.8 yards per catch and those two scores. Hill hit 8-of-12 passes for 166 yards and two TDs. His other touchdown was a 23-yard dart to Ja’ontay O’Bryant to push Senior High on top 7-3 in the first period.

But Hoover jumped back in front 10-7 when Zander Bugara returned the ensuing kickoff 79 yards for a 10-7 edge. It marked the second straight week Mansfield Senior has surrendered a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Luke Roach’s 29-yard TD dash inflated the Vikings’ lead to 17-7 at the half.

But Senior’s High’s stingy defense didn’t allow another point while the offense pulled off a pair of big plays to swing the affair.

Mansfield Senior had a huge goal-line stand to save the day, stopping Hoover on 4th & goal at the 1 with 6:04 remaining in the game. That thwarted a 16-play, 57-yard drive that took 7:14 off the clock.

It was an odd night for the Tygers, who ran 21 times for minus-41 yards. The offense managed just six first downs, but the three TD strikes proved to be the difference.

Hoover had a 13-6 advantage in first downs, and a 30:13 to 17:47 margin in time of possession. Roach ran for 108 yards to top the Vikings, but they mustered just 24 yards in the air as Senior High won the total yardage battle 188-180. Mansfield Senior also coughed up three turnovers, to two for the hosts.

The Tygers improved to 3-0 with the key victory, while the Vikings dropped to 1-2.

Senior High is scheduled to host West Holmes on Friday night at Arlin Field.
